Badgered

This badger was curled up fast asleep beside a hidden stream in Connemara last December when a group of walkers from the Galway Walking Club almost stepped on him, while on a hike. As the video above shows, it’s first attempt to hide [in the stream] didn’t work out so well since (a) we could still see it, and (b) it was cold and wet in the stream. Eventually, after a bit of growling, the badger crawled out of the stream and ran off up to higher ground. It’s only the second time in a decade that I’ve come across a badger on open ground during the day in the Twelve Bens mountian range.
